Living Small – Documenting the lives of the residents of a Tokyo capsule hotel
In a city where space is scarce, capsule hotels offer shelter and solitude. Through candid photography, this series explores the lives of residents navigating minimalism, transience, and the search for home in Tokyo.

With his Living Small series, the American photographer Wom Kim wanted to document the lives of the inhabitants of a Tokyo capsule hotel, away from the futuristic and technological image of the city. Having himself lived in this hotel, built in one floor of an office building, Wom Kim photographed the daily lives of these Japanese, living in these tiny spaces, without windows, made of plywood, with a simple curtain for privacy.
