Frozen World – The impressive photos of Lake Baikal during winter
Each winter, Lake Baikal transforms into a magical landscape of jagged ice, frozen bubbles, and sapphire tones. These awe-inspiring photographs showcase the pristine silence and raw power of the world’s deepest lake in its coldest season.

The Russian photographer Kristina Makeeva captured some impressive images of Lake Baikal during winter, unveiling the frozen immensities of the world’s largest liquid freshwater reserve. Located in Siberia, the Lake Baikal is also the deepest lake in the world, and extends over a length of 636 km. It contains roughly 20% of the world’s unfrozen surface fresh water.
