With his Souvenir d’un futur project, started in 2011, the French photographer Laurent Kronental documents the retrofuturistic buildings of the Grands Ensembles around Paris. Designed between 1940 and 1980 to meet the rural exodus and the housing crisis, these buildings reflect the futuristic vision of their architects. In his photographs, Laurent Kronental cpatures the shapes and perspectives of these amazing buildings, but above all documents the daily lives of older people in these aging Grands Ensembles, once at the forefront of modernity. A melancholy look on these often unsung suburban neighborhoods, and the conditions of existence of a sometimes forgotten generation…
